The American Board of Podiatric Medicine released a memorandum on October 11, 2017, regarding a modification in policy relative to the 2018 certification examination for individuals with 2-years of CPME-approved residency training.

The last opportunity to attempt the certification process remains the 2018 examination for those with 2-years of CPME-approved training administration.  While this is unchanged from prior policy, a recent agreement among the ABPM, ABFAS and CPME extends the deadline to 2020 for individuals who attempt certification in 2018 but achieve only board qualified status. In other words, an additional 2 years is afforded these individuals to complete the certification process.
